Drunk Driver Arrested After Crash

On the evening of March 23, 2020, the Oregon State Police responded to a two vehicle traffic crash on Highway 101 near Neotsu. The crash investigation found the driver of a silver Ford sedan, identified as 34-year old Joshua E. Holmes was following too closely behind the driver of a Toyota SUV and caused a rear-end crash. Holmes did not have a valid license or insurance and also displayed several indicators of impairment and refused to participate in standardized field sobriety tests.

He was transported to the Lincoln City Police Department where he refused to provide a breath sample under the Implied Consent provisions. A search warrant was applied for and obtained for the driver’s breath and/or blood. The driver cooperated with the search warrant and provided a breath sample revealing a blood alcohol content of 0.25%, over three times the legal limit. Holmes was issued a citation for DUII in lieu of custody and transported to a friend’s residence to care for him.
