Cities And County Discuss Limiting Social Gatherings And The 24-Hour Hotel/Motel Hold

The county commissioners and the local cities held a joint meeting today (6/19) to discuss reducing social gatherings from 25, which is allowed in phase one to 10. This would NOT include churches or businesses. It will only be for private community or family gatherings. The concern is that with the 4th of July holiday that their might be more community outbreaks, like what happened after Memorial day. This was passed by the cities of Newport, Waldport, Yachats and Lincoln County. Depoe Bay, Toledo and Siletz will further discuss the matter next week. Lincoln City decided to remain at the phase one, 25 person gathering requirement.

Also discussed was consideration of rescinding the 24-hour hold for hotels. This was created to enable 24-hours before a room could be cleaned by staff to help protect staff from the virus during cleaning. Several cities voted to rescind the order and eliminate the 24-hold including Lincoln City, Depoe Bay, (which never approved the order to begin with) and Waldport. Toledo and Siletz do not have lodging facilities and are not part of this rule. Those approving continuing the 24-hour hold, until phase 2 opening included Newport and Yachats. Lincoln County voted to hold it for another 30-days.
